Paros, Greece
One of the Cyclades island group, Paros lies to the west of Naxos approximately 100 nautical miles (185 km) south-east of Piraeus. Today Paros is one of the most popular international tourist destinations in Europe. The Municipality of Paros includes numerous uninhabited offshore islets totalling 196.308 km2 of land. Its nearest neighbour is the Community of Antiparos, lying to its southwest.
Paros was famous in antiquity for its fine translucent marble, used to make countless artistic master-pieces, including the famous Venus de Milo.
